The company Aquarock has closed long term deals with the gigantic Dutch company Van Oord about delivering offshore rocks from Sandnessjøen. The contract will result in 20 new jobs. The company "AquaRock Company AS" from Sandnessjøen will invest 40 million norwegian kroner in a new base/quay in Botnfjorden. The base will deliver offshore rocks being produced between highway 17 and the fjord in an area between Helgeland Næringspark (where we were the last time we were in Sandnessjøen) and the new base area on "Horvnes". In the start there will be 20 persons employed in this new site/base, but in a press release sent out from the company Aquarock it implies that there will eventually be as many as 40 people employed on this site/base. Aquarock Company has signed a contract with the Dutch company Van Oord. According to this contract Aquarock will deliver offshore rocks to Van Oords projects in the Norwegian Sea. Aquarock company assumes the production will start in february 2008.

Mile-stone.

"This is a mile-stone for Aquarock as a company when we now take the step into a growing market in the Norwegian Sea. The fields Skarv and Idun where British Petroleum is operator and Tyrihans and Alve where StatoilHydro operates. In addition we have expectations that there will be more fields developing off the coast of Nordland during the coming years", says daily leader in Aquarock, Øystein Barth-Heyerdahl who also implies that there will be a new emission coming soon.

Market leader.

The Dutch company Van Oord is world leading within offshore seabed and rockdumping and the contract that is signed with the company from Sandnessjøen will secure the demand of rocks needed to build this new site/base/quay at Botnfjorden. One of the more important aspects of this new project is when the mountain is blown to pieces and made into offshore rocks there will be an area transformed into an industrial area which will be under use of Alstahaug county. These new areas are located where it will be natural with close ties to the area around Horvnes.
